Starts her musical training at age 8 at the Conservatory of Integral Music Education, Bolívar state, Venezuela.
Graduation & Teaching
Graduates from the conservatory and begins her teaching career at 16. Starts working at Musiguayana, Venezuela.
Arrival in Orlando
Joins Florida Music School and Shop in Orlando, expanding her teaching work in the United States.

Music Education for Students on the Autism Spectrum
Throughout her career as a music educator, Raiza Mora has worked with several students on the autism spectrum, adapting her teaching to each one's characteristics, needs, interests and learning pace.
Her experience has taught her that every student responds differently to music and to the learning process. That is why her approach begins with getting to know the person before deciding how to teach them.
For Raiza, music can become a space to develop musical skills, build confidence, encourage expression and create new forms of communication and connection.

Alejandro's Story
Alejandro is one of the students who has been part of this journey.
Alejandro, who has level 2 autism, began his lessons with Raiza in February 2023. Since then, Raiza has worked with him through an individualized approach, taking into account his needs and, especially, his interest in music. His mother, Alicia Merced, highlights the patience, dedication and personalized attention Raiza has provided throughout this process.
December 2023
Piano solo at the Christmas Recital, before ~150 people
One of the most meaningful moments came on December 16, 2023, when Alejandro took part in the Christmas Recital and played a piano solo in front of approximately 150 people.
That moment represents far more than a musical performance. It is part of a process in which a student discovered his abilities, developed his skills and found in music a way to express himself.
An Experience That Keeps Growing
Alejandro's story is one of several experiences Raiza has had working with students on the autism spectrum.
Each student has allowed her to learn something new about teaching, patience, adaptation and the importance of finding what sparks their interest.
This experience has also shaped the methodology Raiza is currently developing: a music teaching approach centered on knowing the student, understanding their needs, discovering their interests and adapting the learning process.

What Science Says About Music and Child Development
Scientific research in recent years has studied how musical training may relate to cognitive development, executive functions, language and certain social skills during childhood. The following studies offer relevant evidence.
Music and Executive Functions in Children
Systematic review of 29 studies: musical training favors executive functions, especially inhibitory control and, to a lesser extent, working memory and cognitive flexibility.

Meta-analysis of 10 studies: preschoolers with musical training showed improvements in inhibitory control, working memory and cognitive flexibility, with better results from 12 weeks onward.

Meta-analysis of 46 studies (3,530 participants, 192 outcomes): a significant association with better executive functions; inhibitory control was the most notable improvement, and the longer the duration, the greater the benefits.

Musical training involves attention, memory, coordination, auditory perception, movement, language, discipline and self-regulation. Scientific research suggests that a structured music education can contribute to the development of various cognitive, linguistic and socioemotional skills during childhood.
Note: The scientific evidence presented does not mean that music by itself cures or treats a medical or neurodevelopmental condition. In children with specific needs, music education and music therapy may play different roles and should be considered within a comprehensive support approach.
